The Georgian Foreign Affairs Committee is expected to discuss two draft resolutions in support of Ukraine later today.

One resolution has been recently proposed by the ruling Georgian Dream party which condemns posing any threats against Ukraine and any sovereign state, as well as against regional security.

The parliamentary opposition dislikes the draft as it does not directly mention Russia.

For its part, the opposition supports the draft resolution proposed by the For Georgia party on December 21 which directly says that current tension over Ukraine is triggered by Russia and describes the country as an aggressor.

The adoption of the resolution requires at least 76 votes in the 150-member parliament.

The ruling party occupies up to 90 seats in the state legislature.
