The Georgian Parliament Speaker has voted in municipal elections earlier today and stated that Georgian ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili’s arrest ‘will not strain friendly relations’ between Ukraine and Georgia.

Ukrainian media says that the Ukrainian government is concerned by Saakashvili’s arrest, who currently heads the Executive Committee of Ukrainian Reforms Council.

It has been reported that the Georgian ambassador has been summoned at the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry which the Georgian Foreign Ministry did not confirm.

Saakashvili, who arrived in Georgia after eight years since leaving the country, was arrested in the outskirts of Tbilisi late yesterday.
