The Georgian parliament has suspended MP status for two opposition MPs, Mamuka Khazaradze and Zurab Japaridze, earlier today per their request.

Khazaradze, founder of Lelo for Georgia party and Zurab Japaridze, head of Girchi-More Freedom party, requested the suspension of their MP status following recent municipal elections.

They claim that the Georgian Dream ruling party fabricated the October 2 municipal race and they are demanding the annulment of the election results.

They are also demanding the transfer of arrested former president Mikheil Saakashvili to a civilian clinic from a prison hospital.

79 MPs voted for the suspension of the MP status for the opposition leaders in the 150-member state legislature.
