The representatives of Levan Khabeishvili’s election office, who is running for the chair of the United National Movement opposition party, on Friday called for setting the date of the race.

“Postponing and delaying the process will be a decision against the interests of the party. Accordingly, it is important to determine the specific date of the elections, to carry out organizational work”, said the members of the UNM supporting Khabeishvili.

They said that this week the political council of the party should make a decision over the date.

“We await the next steps. We are ready to take an active part in the process, since the elections, the new chairman must unite the party, must organize the composition and assets of the party as a whole for new struggles, new challenges. Together we will all win”, said Levan Bezhashvili.

Several members of the largest opposition group called for intra-party elections earlier this month, with incumbent chair Nika Melia saying the briefing was “unexpected” for him.
