Civic activists, politicians and ordinary citizens are now gathering in front of Tbilisi City Hall, demanding the resignation of Mayor Kakha Kaladze for the recent deadly incident in a newly renovated central Vake Park, where one minor was killed and two others injured in an electrocution incident in a fountain.
The demonstrators say that Kaladze must take responsibility and resign, as the park was opened to the public a day before the incident.
Police are looking into the case, investigating violation of safety regulations which resulted in death.
13-year-old Marita Meparishvili was killed in the incident on October 13, while the condition of a 13-year-old boy is stable and the third one was with minor injuries.
A gardener in the same park, Devi Mezurnishvili, took two children out of the water despite life-threatening risks, while he was unable to also save the third minor as he was also electrocuted while in the water, now feeling well.
