Germany has decided not to resume its scientific cooperation with Georgia, according to the German Ambassador to Georgia, Peter Fischer.

The German Ministry of Education and Research has suspended Georgian-German scientific cooperation, affecting student mobility, research collaborations, and Georgia’s participation in EU programs.

Ambassador Fischer said on Wednesday the reason for this decision was the restriction of academic freedom in Georgia and the suspension of the country’s EU accession process. He emphasized the impact of this suspension, particularly on Georgians who had studied at German universities with German scholarships, noting that they would feel the loss of this collaboration.
