German Ambassador to Georgia, Peter Fischer, has raised concerns about the treatment of protesters during recent demonstrations. In a social media post, Fischer highlighted alarming statistics, stating that over 85% of those arrested at the protests have sustained injuries.

“This is a source of alarm and dismay. Maximum respect to all who exercise their right to express their opinion in favor of democracy and the EU,” Fischer wrote, emphasizing the importance of protecting the right to peaceful expression.

Fischer and French and UK ambassadors also met with Georgia’s Public Defender to express support for the ombudsman’s efforts in safeguarding human rights during this critical period.
