PM announces flats for 7,000 IDP families, construction, renovation of kindergartens, schools

Georgian prime minister Irakli Garibashvili on Monday announced the launch of construction of residential buildings for 7,000 Internally Displaced families, with the budget funds for the “large-scale” project allocated this year. 

Speaking at the weekly government meeting, the official also announced the construction and renovation of schools and kindergartens across the country starting from the next year. 

He said that the kindergarten programme would be carried out in three stages, with the total cost hitting ₾1.3 billion ($473,000). 

The PM said that initially, from January 1, 2023, ₾100 million ($36mln) would be allocated with the purpose, and noted that the next year 500 schools would also be either constructed, or renovated, with ₾30 million ($11mln) spent on their computer labs.
