Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Thursday discussed bilateral ties and his country’s  European Union integration prospects following the  European Commission’s “historic” recommendation to the Council to grant Tbilisi the bloc’s candidacy in December with French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris.

“Delighted to meet with President Macron. We are grateful for the President’s support on Georgia’s EU  path! We believe that France will further strengthen its political and practical support, helping us advance successfully to the next stages of the accession”, Garibashvili tweeted following the meeting.

The PM arrived in France to attend the Paris Peace Forum dedicated to the improvement of global governance on Friday and Saturday.

Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili said she would also feature  at the event without the Government’s consent.
