Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Tuesday responded to the establishment of the Ahali political party by Nika Melia, the former chair of the United National Movement opposition party and Nika Gvaramia, the former UNM official and the media manager, likening it to another “minor political entity likely garnering around two percent of the vote.

He expressed confidence that such parties “would not pose a significant challenge to the dominance of the ruling Georgian Dream party.

Kobakhidze stressed “the creation of yet another small party, potentially earning around two percent of the vote, is not a concern for us. These minor parties will affect the UNM in the elections”.

The PM further emphasized the “proliferation of such two-three percent parties could ultimately bolster the electoral position of the Georgian Dream party”.
