Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili says that almost one million Georgian citizens will be banned from online gambling, while taxes for the business will be increased by 65-70 percent.

“A new tax mechanism will be introduced for the online gambling business. In total, the tax will increase by 65-70 percent,” Garibashvili said earlier today.

He stated that Georgian citizens under 25 will be banned from participating in gambling, as well as socially vulnerable citizens, state servants, and individuals on the black lists.

“Overall one million Georgians will be banned from online gambling,” Garibashviili says. Gambling ads will also be banned, although the possibility of concluding a sponsorship agreement remains in force.

“All kinds of TV and outdoor advertising, as well as advertising on Georgian websites will be banned,” Garibashvili stated.
