Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili says that the ruling Georgian Dream party is winning a ‘convincing victory’ in the municipal race and stated that the Georgian people will give a ‘deadly stroke’ to the ‘destructive’ United National Movement (UNM) opposition party in the elections.

Garibashvili says that the ‘ending of the UNM,’ which is a ‘source of destabilisation’ in the country, is important for the country’s stable economic and political development.

He urged voters to actively participate in the elections to help the ruling party go far ahead in the votes.

The UNM also claims that it is winning all municipalities in the race.

Polling stations will close at 20:00 in the country.
