The part of the domestic opposition groups are as “destructive” as they were ten years ago, Georgian prime minister Irakli Garibashvili said during his address in parliament on Friday.

He reiterated that the opposition representatives, who were “very vocal” for the country’s European integration, had refused to join the work for Georgia’s European Union membership candidate status.

Accusing the opposition of “fighting against national interests”, the head of the government called on “radical opposition groups” to join the work for the country’s EU candidacy, and noted that without their engagement, it would be unlikely the country to meet the first condition for the status, which refers to depolarisation of domestic political environment.
