Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili says that he has cast his ballot for stable and peaceful development of Georgia in today’s municipal election run-offs in 20 of 64 mayoral constituencies and for 42 majoritarian members in city assemblies.
Garibashvili is sure that the elections will be the ‘final stroke’ on the United National Movement opposition party ‘which has been hampering the state development for many years and was engaged with torture and inhuman treatemnet of its people while in office.’
Head of the ruling Georgian Dream party, Irakli Kobakhidze, also stated that ‘making a choice’ between the GD and the UNM ‘is very simple.’
The ruling party received almost 47 per cent of the vote in the proportional part of the elections on October 2, during the first round of elections, and won 44 of 64 mayoral constituencies.
The party is expecting that they will win all the remaining 20 mayoral constituencies and the vacant seats in City Assemblies.
