Georgian prime minister Irakli Garibashvili on Wednesday said the country had “truly an European-style, professional police”, in his address on their professional day in Tbilisi, before pledging “greater support” for domestic law enforcement.

“I am proud of the Georgian police, I am proud that our police is exactly like this. Today, when our country, our people and the government are strengthening our state together, and aspire to create a modern, European state, we can safely say that we already have a truly modern, European standard police”, Garibashvili said.

Praising the “great work” of the country’s police professionals for the safety of citizens and the country, the head of the government claimed it was his government’s “obligation” to ensure proper conditions for them.

He stressed the government would “further strengthen” its efforts for the law enforcement, adding “ you deserve all the best”.
