Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili should be held accountable for losing the country’s development opportunities and his harmful statements ahead of the EU’s final decision on the candidate status, the United National Movement (UNM) opposition MP Roman Gotsiridze told Front News on Monday.
“Garibashvili’s harmful statement, in practice, means that the government has accepted that we will not be given the status of a candidate on June 24. Instead of announcing that all the recommendations will be implemented immediately, he said that they would wait for the approval of these recommendations.
“This actually means that they accept that nothing good will happen to Georgia on June 24. Garibashvili is directly to blame for this, as one of the main executors of Bidzina Ivanishvili’s [ruling party founder] unconstitutional assignments,” Gotsiridze suggested.
Garibashvili congratulated Georgians on receiving the European prospective on Monday and vowed that the government would do its utmost to meet all the requirements for the country to receive the candidate status in the short run.
