One of the scenarios for ending the war in Ukraine is freezing the current combat operations on the front line; however, the final decision will be made by President Volodymyr Zelensky, said Mykhailo Podolyak, adviser to the head of the Ukrainian President’s Administration.
Specifically, when asked whether reports were true that Ukraine was ready to freeze the current situation on the front line, Podolyak responded:
“If we speak realistically, yes. One possible scenario is freezing the front line, and the President is talking about this, but I believe that regarding the final scenario, the final decision will be made by the President,” Podolyak said.
According to him, consultations are currently underway between the Ukrainian President and European leaders. In particular, there is a clear vision and understanding of the risks that will continue to come from Russia.
Podolyak also noted that there is a good negotiation process with American partners. Moreover, in his opinion, after the events in Beijing and Tianjin, the United States will look more realistically at what is happening in the world.
In an interview with Le Point, President Volodymyr Zelensky allowed for a “Korean scenario” for Ukraine after the end of the war with Russia.
As is known, after the Korean War, a peace treaty was never signed, but South Korea achieved success. Commenting on this example, Zelensky said:
“You ask me, could such a scenario happen in Ukraine? I tell you, everything is possible. It should be noted that South Korea has a great ally: the United States, which does not allow North Korea to take control over it,” the President said.
At the same time, he emphasized that a complete repetition of the South Korean model, in terms of security, would likely not suit Ukraine. The reason is that the threats to Ukraine from the Russian Federation are much greater than those posed by North Korea to South Korea.
“On the other hand, its economic model is a good example,” Zelensky noted.
