“No one voluntarily queues for the death from Russian missiles. Irakli Garibashvili, Ukraine pays a terrible price choosing to be a European democracy. Ukraine pays a high price for protecting its civilization. Values are more important than profit. What is important for you? Application queue number?” Mikhailo Podolyak, adviser to the head of the office of President of Ukraine, asked the Georgian PM on Tuesday.
Garibashvili has suggested that it was Georgia who deserved the EU candidate status first, then Ukraine and Moldova, considering the democratic reforms being carried out by the countries over years.
Top figures of the Georgian Dream authorities have slammed Podolyak several times for his critical comments towards the Georgian Dream authorities, calling him “once allied with Yanukovych, becoming patriot at the age of 40.”
Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova applied for EU membership shortly after Russia invaded Ukraine in late February.
The trio are now awaiting the EU decision on the candidate status which is expected to be made at the end of this month.
