Several individuals were detained by police during a protest on Rustaveli Avenue near the Georgian Parliament in Tbilisi. The Ministry of Internal Affairs is currently confirming the exact number of those arrested.

Footage from the scene shows at least four people detained, while reports from the Human Rights Education and Monitoring Center (SIYA) indicate that five individuals may have been arrested.

The Public Defender’s office is also working to confirm the location of the detained protesters.

According to police, the detentions occurred after protesters resisted efforts to clear the roadway, which had been blocked during the demonstration. The ongoing protests in Georgia have called for new elections and the release of detained protesters, adding to the tension between the government and opposition forces.
