Police officer convicted for insulting a person with disabilities

Tbilisi City Court on Friday sentenced Patrol inspector Nukri Bakradze to five years in prison for physically abusing a person with disabilities in metro station in January 2021.

Bakradze was charged with inhumane treatment in aggravated circumstances which is punishable by five to 10 years in prison. 

Another police officer, who was present at the scene and did not prevent the incident from happening, was earlier sentenced to six months to prison for abuse of official authority which was considered conditional and one year was set as a probationary period.

The verdict was delivered by the jury.
