Rati Bregadze, the Georgian Justice Minister, on Wednesday said two Polish professionals would not be readmitted to the Vivamedi civilian clinic in Tbilisi to visit the imprisoned former President Mikheil Saakashvili without explanations on a previous incident oფ July 12, when a visiting Polish professional allegedly attempted to smuggle the former official’s biological sample through his shoe.

In his press comments, the official said his body was expecting explanations from the Polish side over the reasons for the move, which he said had contradicted “ethical and legal norms”.

“We will take appropriate measures and start studying this fact independently. Of course, its legal assessment as well. However, as I told you, we are trying to get an official explanation from the Polish side, because otherwise we certainly cannot leave this fact without a proper legal response”, he said.

In his previous comments, the official said the Polish doctors had been allowed to take the samples officially and it was “unclear” why one attempted to smuggle it.
