Polish President Andrzej  Duda has told Bild that he was “amazed” by all talks which were held with Russian President Vladimir Putin by certain European leaders and by an attempt “to save Putin’s face.”

“I am amazed by all the talks that are going on with Putin at the moment. By Chancellor Scholz, by President Macron. Did anyone talk to Adolf Hitler like that during WWII? Did someone say Adolf Hitler had to save face?“ said the Polish President.

During the interview Duda recalled Russia’s invasion of Georgia back in 2008.

“When Russia attacked Georgia, then Polish President said words that sounded malicious at the time, but today have a sad story. He said: Russian imperialism had renewed itself again. We see a face of Russia that we haven’t seen for decades, but that we know. It is the face of an imperialist state that wants to deprive others of their freedom. And that this must be stopped at all costs. That this is the duty of Europe and the world because today comes Georgia, tomorrow maybe Ukraine, the day after tomorrow the Baltic states and then my country – Poland. That was in August 2008 and we always took those words very seriously,” he said.

Duda stated that no agreement should be made with Putin without the consent of Kyiv.
