Seven arrested in Batumi for large-scale drug offenses

The employees of the Adjara Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have arrested seven individuals in connection with drug-related crimes. The arrests followed a series of operational and investigative activities carried out at different times.

The suspects, who face charges including the illegal acquisition, storage, and attempted distribution of large quantities of narcotics and psychotropic substances, as well as illegal cultivation of cannabis, are citizens of Moldova and Turkey. Those arrested include:

Moldovan citizens: D.S. (born 1980), S.S. (born 1989), and A.Ch. (born 1973)

Turkish citizens: O.G. (born 1999), M.Ch. (born 2001), F.S. (born 1999), and M.I. (born 2005)

The crimes they are accused of carry sentences of up to 20 years or life imprisonment.

During searches of the suspects’ residences and other indicated locations, law enforcement officers seized significant quantities of various narcotic substances, including methadone, mephedrone, pregabalin, and dried marijuana. Authorities also dismantled greenhouses used for cultivating cannabis and confiscated large quantities of cannabis plants, as well as materials and electronic scales used for drug packaging and distribution.

The investigation is ongoing under Articles 260, 19-260 (part three), 261, 265, and 273 prima of the Criminal Code.
