Officers of the Interior Ministry’s Adjara Police Department have arrested two previously convicted individuals on charges of illegal purchase and possession of an especially large amount of methadone.

According to the ministry, the detainees - a 35-year-old man (B.V.) and a 44-year-old man (Z.B.) - were taken into custody after police found a significant quantity of the narcotic substance during a personal search.

Both suspects were arrested as defendants.

The investigation is ongoing under Article 260 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which carries a potential sentence of up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
