Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs has announced the arrest of nine individuals — including several minors — in connection with the inhumane treatment of a fellow underage individual in Tbilisi. The case is being investigated under Article 144³ of Georgia’s Criminal Code, which covers group-perpetrated, premeditated inhuman or degrading treatment against a minor. The crime is punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
According to the ministry, the detainees include one adult male born in 1995 with a prior criminal record, as well as eight minors born between 2006 and 2011. The incident reportedly stemmed from a previous personal dispute.
Investigators say one of the suspects lured the victim, also a minor, to an abandoned building near a metro station in Tbilisi. There, other suspects were already waiting. Following a verbal confrontation, the group physically assaulted the victim, inflicted injuries with a bladed weapon, and filmed the abuse on a mobile phone.
Searches conducted at the homes of the suspects led to the seizure of mobile phones, bladed and pneumatic weapons, and items bearing Nazi symbols, all of which have been submitted as evidence.
The Ministry emphasized that the investigation is ongoing and additional legal actions will be taken as necessary.
