Georgian police seize large quantity of drugs in Rustavi

The Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs on Saturday reported that officers of the Kvemo Kartli Police Department’s Rustavi Division had detained a 1984-born individual on charges of illegal possession of a particularly large quantity of narcotics and facilitating drug distribution.

The Ministry said the suspect - who has a prior criminal record and is currently serving a suspended sentence - was arrested during operational and investigative activities.

During a personal search and from locations indicated by the detainee, police seized 23 packages of the narcotic substance alpha-PVP, which were entered into evidence.

The offence carries a sentence of up to 20 years in prison or life imprisonment.
