Police in Georgia have arrested a man in Rustavi on suspicion of possessing and facilitating the distribution of a large quantity of the drug amphetamine, the Interior Ministry has said.

In a statement on Wednesday, the ministry said the 30-year-old suspect - identified only as I.S. and previously convicted of other crimes - was detained following a series of operational and investigative measures carried out by officers from the Kvemo Kartli Police Department’s Rustavi Division.

During a search of the suspect’s home and person, officers seized 185 packages of amphetamine as evidence. They also found equipment allegedly used for packaging drugs, including an electronic scale, adhesive tape and ziplock bags.
