Turkish citizen detained in Tbilisi on methadone distribution charges

Police in Tbilisi have detained a 27-year-old Turkish citizen on suspicion of illegally purchasing and storing narcotic substances, as well as facilitating their distribution, the Interior Ministry announced on Wednesday.
The suspect allegedly placed methadone packages at 25 locations across the city with the intention of selling them. Officers from the Old Tbilisi Main Division recovered 77 individually wrapped packages of the drug from the sites identified by the detainee.
The investigation is under way under Articles 260 and 260¹ of Georgia’s Criminal Code, which carry penalties of up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
