Officers from the Old Tbilisi Main Division of the Tbilisi Police Department under Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs have arrested two people on charges related to the illegal purchase, possession and facilitation of the distribution of large quantities of narcotic and psychotropic substances.

According to the ministry, one of those detained is a foreign national.

Law enforcement officers seized evidence during searches of the suspects and a vehicle belonging to one of them, including 500 Pregabalin tablets and up to two kilograms of dried marijuana, the Interior Ministry said.

The offences are punishable by up to 20 years in prison or life imprisonment.
