Officers of the Tbilisi Police Department have arrested a man born in 1966, identified as G.J., on charges of illegally purchasing and possessing a firearm and ammunition, the Ministry of Internal Affairs has announced.

According to the investigation, police conducted a search of the suspect’s residence, where they seized a firearm, a magazine, and seven rounds of ammunition as evidence.

The offence is punishable by up to six years of imprisonment.

An investigation is underway under Article 236, Part 3 of Georgia’s Criminal Code, which covers the illegal acquisition and possession of firearms and ammunition.
