Poland deports 17 Georgians amid crackdown on illegal migration

Poland has carried out the deportation of 17 Georgian citizens from Kraków using a military aircraft in what authorities described as a demonstrative operation against illegal migration.

According to Polish officials, the deported individuals included “people with a criminal record who committed theft” as well as “those who overstayed their allowed period in Poland or illegally crossed the national border.”

“Deportations have begun. We are effectively dismantling Georgian gangs. Not just words—actions,” Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk wrote on X, sharing a video of the deportation process.

Poland’s Ministry of Internal Affairs emphasized that “criminals are not welcome and will be deported from the country.”

“This is the first such planned operation. Similar deportations will take place in the coming weeks, involving citizens of various countries,” the Polish Border Guard announced.

The deportation follows reports that three Georgian nationals are facing up to 10 years in prison for allegedly stealing goods worth millions of zlotys from supermarkets.

Cracking down on crimes committed by migrants is part of Prime Minister Tusk’s broader initiative to strengthen security and enforce immigration laws in Poland.
