The Georgian President is not free in her decisions and statements. She is caught by the figure who had “appointed” her to the role, referring to the founder of the ruling Georgian Dream party, Bidzina Ivanishvili, Tako Charkviani, a chair of the Law and Justice opposition party told Front News Georgia on Friday.
“It is difficult to give any importance to the president’s statements when she does not use any leverage available to her,” Charkviani said in comments of recent calls of the President to the ruling party to distance itself from the group of former MPs of the GD who had raised various allegations towards the US Embassy, accusing the diplomatic mission of “backing radical forces” in Georgia.
“We are happy when, under the conditions of today’s unbridled government, someone makes a correct statement towards the West, but we are happy and nothing more. When she has the lever to pardon inmates and does not use it with respect to the third president and Nika Gvaramia, it means that she is never free in her actions and statements”, Charkviani said.
