President expresses sorrow as avalanche, landslides kill 6 in two days

The President of Georgia, Salome Zourabichvili, has conveyed her condolences to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives in the recent disaster in Western Georgia this week, claiming six lives, while five are still missing. 

In a statement posted on her official Facebook page, the President expressed deep sorrow for the victims of the natural disaster, extending her sympathies and solidarity to the affected families during these challenging times.

Two individuals lost their lives in the Khulo and Keda municipalities of the Adjara region due to avalanches and landslides triggered by heavy snowfall and rainfall. Additionally, last night, a landslide occurred in the village of Nergeti, Baghdati municipality, in the Imereti region. This incident engulfed four houses, resulting in the loss of four lives, with five individuals still reported as missing while rescue efforts continue.
