President invites political parties at New Year reception amid her vows for national reconciliation

Georgian president Salome Zurabishvili has invited political parties at a New Year reception at the presidential palace amid her promise to launch the national reconciliation process which means making peace between former and current leaderships of the state. 

 

Many see the invitation as a step forward taken to carry out the initiative. 

 

The Georgian Dream ruling party representative is expected to attend the reception. 

 

Strategy Agmashenebeli and Lelo opposition party will also attend the event, while the major opposition party, the United National Movement, and European Georgia are unlikely to do so, as well as the Droa opposition party. 

 

Zurabishvili met with Patriarch Ilia II yesterday to receive a bessling for her initiative.
