The President’s office on Wednesday protested the Parliament’s conduct of the impeachment session over Salome Zourabichvili in a “normal, ordinary working format”.

“Despite the request of the President’s administration, the Parliament refused to invite representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Georgia and the President’s representatives to the Constitutional Court to the session during the discussion of the impeachment”, the President’s office said.

The impeachment vote in  the Parliament comes following Monday’s ruling by the Constitutional Court, which approved the allegations of the ruling Georgian Dream party that the President  had violated the law through her recent European foreign visits without the Government’s consent.

The party needs at least 100 votes to dismiss Zourabichvili. However, large opposition groups claim they would boycott the impeachment.
