Irakli Kobakhidze, the head of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Tuesday claimed an alleged alliance of President Salome Zourabichvili with ex-Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia’s For Georgia party and former Public Defender Nino Lomjaria would not overcome a five percent election threshold in the next year’s Parliamentary elections

The For Georgia party has rejected the claims, saying it had “no plans” to cooperate with Lomjaria, while saying that Zourabichvili’s engagement in the elections was “unlikely” due to her status.

Zourabichvili’s six-year-term in office expires next year.
