“Europe is the only way to stop asking the question: peace or freedom?’ Because we all want peace and freedom, so we want Europe,” Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili said at an Europe Day event on Monday in Tbilisi.

She said that Georgia should ensure all efforts to become a part of the EU, as the country applied for membership earlier than scheduled, in March 2022, shortly after the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

“Our future is fully dependent on us and our actions,” Zourabichvili said.

The Georgian government will hand the final part of the EU questionnaire to Ambassador Carl Hartzell tomorrow.

Answers on the first and the second parts of the questionnaire, with 369 and 2,500 questions respectively on political, economic and sectoral issues, will be used by the EU to decide whether or not to grant Georgia a candidate country status.

The bloc is scheduled to release its report over the questionnaire in June.
