The British business publication International Business Times has published an article titled Starring Georgia: How One Company Transformed Georgia’s Cultural Landscape, highlighting the project as a cultural initiative that has significantly transformed the country’s cultural and entertainment landscape.
According to the publication, Starring Georgia has played a key role in positioning Georgia, particularly its Black Sea region, as an international destination for large-scale concerts and cultural events. Central to the project is Black Sea Arena in Shekvetili, a world-class venue that has hosted global music stars and contributed to the decentralisation of cultural life beyond the capital.
The article notes that the project invested heavily in modern sound, lighting and stage infrastructure, bringing Georgian venues up to international standards.
“Here's what's important to understand: this space has witnessed excited teenagers coming to see their favourite bands, concerts that brought grandparents and grandchildren together, and Georgian folk traditions brought to life in a contemporary setting. OneRepublic, Scorpions, The Killers, Black Eyed Peas, Jessie J, this is just a partial list of artists whose visits turned Shekvetili into a real celebration. Black Sea Arena has given people of all ages and interests the chance to connect through the universal language of music”, reads the article.
International Business Times also points to the project’s economic impact, reporting that more than 200,000 people attended Starring Georgia events in two years, including 50,000 tourists who spent around ₾60 million ($22.36mln) in the country, benefiting local businesses and the tourism sector.
The publication concludes that Starring Georgia represents a long-term cultural investment that has strengthened Georgia’s position on the global music map and continues to expand with new venues and initiatives.
