The Prosecutor’s Office of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti has detained one person for unlawfully storing and distributing materials that violate another individual’s privacy, the office announced on Tuesday.

According to the investigation, the suspect illegally retained and shared photos and videos depicting the private life of the victim.

The individual has been charged under Article 157a, Part 1 of Georgia’s Criminal Code, which criminalizes the illegal collection and dissemination of private information. Conviction under this article carries a maximum prison sentence of seven years.

The prosecution said it will request pre-trial detention for the suspect in court, in accordance with legal procedures and deadlines.
