The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia on Wednesday announced the search for Vazha Meladze, the owner of the domestic  furniture manufacturing company – Meladze, on charges of embezzlement of a large amount of money.

“In the criminal law case, the Ministry of Internal Affairs continues to investigate intensively. New victims apply to the investigative body almost every day. At the moment, 47 victims appear in the case, and the damage caused to them amounts to 719,408 GEL,” the prosecutor’s office said.

The body noted that the court, along with the payment of 7,000 GEL bail, had imposed restrictions on Meladze and he was banned from crossing the border.

“Despite the prohibition, the suspect hid from the investigation. For this, the prosecutor’s office had applied to the court with a request to change the measure of restraint used against Meladze”.

The body also filed charges on two more people in the case for fraud, including Meladze’s wife.
