Quake kills at least 6,234 in Turkey, 2,470 in Syria

Turkey’s disaster agency on Wednesday said that Monday’s 7.8 magnitude earthquake has killed at least 6,234 in the country and left 37,011 injured, with Syria’s death toll climbing to 2,470.  

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday announced a three-month state of emergency in 10 provinces worst-affected by the disaster.
