Remittances from Russia to Georgia hit two billion dollars last year, marking more than 500 percent increase compared to the same period of the last year, on the backdrop of Moscow’s ongoing aggression against Ukraine.

The government’s 2022 budget report said last year net remittances increased by 98.2 percent  and amounted to four billion dollars.

Russia, with $2.48 billion, was Georgia’s second largest trade partner last year, followed by Turkey ($2.80 billion).

It was also the country’s third top partner by exports in 2022 with $651.6 million.
