The protest at the Republican Hospital in Tbilisi persists into its ninth day as its personnel oppose the decision to dismantle the building, as announced by the country’s Government earlier this month.
Refusing to vacate the premises, they stand firm against the terms presented by the Ministry of Health.
The medical workers claim they have been pressured by hospital administration to sign contracts under imminent expiration, yet they resist due to the unfavorable conditions outlined.
“In recent discussions within Republican Hospital groups, it has been suggested that in lieu of employment here, we may opt for alternative service. However, this offer comes with conditions that smack of coercion and bribery,” asserted Dr. Nino Otarashvili.
The medical staff has taken legal action, collectively filing a lawsuit to challenge the decision to dismantle the hospital.
The Government claims a new, modern hospital will be built at the locality.
