Residents safe following powerful explosion in Tbilisi residential blocks

No fatalities were reported following a powerful explosion in a residential building housing 93 families in Tbilisi’s Didube District early Thursday. Local media confirmed that prompt evacuation measures ensured the safety of all residents. The Didube district administration has organized temporary accommodation for them in nearby hotels.

Assessment of the building’s structural integrity will determine whether residents can return to their homes or if temporary arrangements are necessary until reinforcements are made, authorities said. 

“Emergency response teams from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, along with other relevant agencies, swiftly responded to the incident. 

Representatives from Tbilisi City Hall and the Didube district administration are also present at the site,” said a spokesperson from Tbilisi City Hall.
