Rikoti pass, connecting east and west Georgia, blocked on election day

Rikoti pass, which is connecting east and west Georgia is now blocked due to a traffic jam allegedly caused by a demolition of a mountain at Khunevi, as road department reports.

 

The vehicles,which are moving from regions to Tbilisi on the day of municipal elections, are standing  immobile in a row. 

 

The Georgian road department says that cleaning work is underway and the pass may reopen after two hours. 

 

The movement will be made available only via Sachkhere and for the vehicles which move from Tbilisi to western Georgia.
