Opposition politician Roman Gotsiridze on Sunday said US President Donald Trump had accepted Russian President Vladimir Putin’s demands and “washed away his blood,” making him appear acceptable to the West.

Commenting on Friday’s Alaska meeting between the US and Russian presidents, Gotsiridze wrote on social media it had become clear what the two leaders discussed: Ukraine must give up the non-occupied part of Donbas, which makes up 30 percent of the region.

“This includes several major cities, among them Kramatorsk. Since the 2022 aggression, apart from Mariupol, Russia has not captured any city of such size. Militarily, this territory is invaluable, as it contains Ukraine’s main defensive lines. In return, Russia would not demand the parts of Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions that remain under Ukrainian control but have already been formally annexed through constitutional changes”, he said.

Gotsiridze added Putin wanted the front line frozen in its current position and said he was surprised Trump agreed to this arrangement, informing Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and European leaders during a joint call, after which Zelenskyy was invited to Washington.

He noted Western media, politicians, and much of the US political establishment were outraged by Trump’s stance — and that Zelenskyy would not agree to what he calls a capitulationist demand.
