Opposition MP Roman Gotsiridze has responded to “new claims” about the lack of a single, clear leader within the opposition, defending the presence of multiple leaders as a strength.

Writing on social media, Gotsiridze rejected the idea that the opposition’s lack of consolidation around one figurehead is a problem, pointing out that the European coalition model actively discourages the emergence of a single leader.

“The opposition’s strength lies in having multiple leaders,” Gotsiridze wrote, emphasizing that the concept of single leadership, which can lead to authoritarianism, should not be a goal in a democratic society. He argued that multi-leadership is a positive aspect of the opposition, allowing for diverse perspectives and preventing the risks of centralized power.

Gotsiridze also addressed recent criticisms of the opposition’s performance at rallies, contrasting it with the high-energy demonstrations seen in Germany. He noted that charismatic, “tribune” leaders are rare today and may no longer be in demand, adding that such leaders require an appropriate audience.
