Michael Roth warns of “Belarusification” threat in Georgia

Chairman of the Bundestag’s Committee on Foreign Affairs, Michael Roth, has condemned the parliamentary election results in Georgia, where the ruling Georgian Dream party secured a majority of votes. In a recent social media post, Roth highlighted the real threat of “Belarusization” in Georgia and urged the European Union to take action to prevent it.

“If the leader of the Georgian Dream follows through on his announcements, there is a risk of persecution and suppression of the opposition, independent media, and critical NGOs,” Roth stated on social media.
