Alexander Malkevich, a Russian propagandist responsible for creating media in occupied Ukrainian territories, was reportedly in Tbilisi on election day last week, according to the international press freedom organization “Reporters Without Borders” (RSF).
Malkevich confirmed his presence in Georgia on Russian television, claiming that “Georgian people want to cooperate with Russia because they understand it aligns with Georgia’s national interests.”
Beyond his activities in Ukraine, Malkevich is linked to Russian oligarch Yevgeny Prigozhin. Known for establishing the “Wake Up America” media project in the US—for which he was labeled a foreign agent and expelled—Malkevich also managed a “troll factory” that spread disinformation during events such as Brexit and US elections. US authorities have issued a $10 million reward for information on Malkevich, who is wanted for election interference, and three of his associates were arrested in Libya for similar activities.
