US President Donald Trump is likely to meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy next week in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has said.

Speaking to reporters during a visit to Israel, Rubio said President Trump “still hopes to help broker a peace agreement” involving Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“The president has had several phone calls and meetings with President Zelenskyy, and he is likely to meet him again in New York next week,” Rubio told journalists.

World leaders are set to gather in New York next week for the annual UN General Assembly session.
